“Finding A Virtuous Woman”

February 2008

Who can find a virtuous woman? for her price is far above rubies. - Proverbs 31:10
Give her of the fruit of her hands; and let her own works praise her in the gates. -  Proverbs 31:31

A virtuous woman…

Who can find one?

I can!

Soon I will be blessed to have known this woman for over fifty years.
She has given me unconditional love all of my life.
She is only a phone call away, I call - She answers.
She has taught me by example to face all of life’s storms with confidence in the “One” who controls them.
She listened tirelessly while I practiced my speeches for 4-H club competitions.
She comforted me when I felt like my world was collapsing around me.
She cheered me on as I enthusiastically cheered my high school’s football team on.
She wisely encouraged me to develop my inner self more so than my outward looks.
She allowed me time to gain back her trust when I had foolishly broken it.
She made sure I was brought up in church.
She didn’t over shelter me from life, but she prepared me for living
She wiped the tears from my eyes when my heart was breaking into over my loss
She not only did things for me, but she did things with me
She unselfishly sacrificed many of her dreams to help me realize mine
She taught me that hard work never hurt anyone
She cooled my fevered brow and nursed me through some very long days and dark fearful nights of sickness
She, by example, has shown me how to become a woman of strength
She patterned before me to reverently fear the Lord

This virtuous woman encouraged me a few years back, at one of the lowest times of my life, when she shared how she had watched my walk with the Lord and because of what she witnessed she accepted the Lord as her Savior too! Her influence in my life is one of the tools God uses regularly to help mold me into a vessel that is usable for His service. She will forever be loved, honored, and praised by me. I will always be grateful to God for passing on to me her quick wit, sense of humor, gift of gab, love of music, appreciation for art, and her deep desire to faithfully serve the Lord. You see, she is not only the first virtuous woman I have ever known, but I have the greatest privilege to call her… Mother!

Many daughters have done virtuously, but thou excellest them all. – Proverbs 31:29

Her children arise up, and call her blessed, her husband also, and he praiseth her.  – Proverbs 31:28

Favour is deceitful, and beauty is vain: but a woman that feareth the Lord, she shall be praised. – Proverbs 31:30
